The DeRoyal public presence Web site was completely overhauled so that it more effectively promotes DeRoyal’s image as a leader in the medical products industry.
The site’s interface was completely redesigned so that it is not only more attractive, but also much easier to navigate. The site’s key feature is the new, comprehensive product catalog, which provides users with a wealth of general and supplemental information on DeRoyal’s diverse medical products line.
The new site’s technology platform was also completely revamped. The site’s hosting hardware and software were upgraded, as was the database software. With the exception of two legacy applications and one off-the-shelf application, all processing code was redeveloped in-house in ASP.NET 2.0 (VB).
One particularly noteworthy aspect of this site is the innovative approach by which the product catalog data is generated and maintained. The catalog application uses XML data generated directly from the Adobe InDesign files used for publishing the print version of DeRoyal’s product catalogs.
